According to Sky Sports, Benjamin Sesco is becoming the number one target for Manchester United's central defender's transfer window this summer.

A source told Sky Sports News that Manchester United had conducted preliminary negotiations with Leipzig and its players' representatives on the terms of the transaction. Newcastle is also interested in the player, but it is believed that Old Trafford is the preferred destination for Sesco, at least for now.

Interest in Sesco was driven by the signing director Christopher Vivier, who was widely praised for discovering him for Salzburg Red Bull at the age of 16. Manchester United has a long history of interest in Sesco - they have been paying attention to its development for many years.

Although Manchester United's current transfer focus is clearly on player sales, they have conducted due diligence on several strikers this summer. Negotiations have been held for Ollie Watkins and Aston Villa, and there is also a tentative interest in Chelsea's Nicholas Jackson.

However, the price and trading structure of these players are considered too high at this stage. Although Sesco's total cost will be higher than Watkins, it is believed that a more favorable deal structure with Leipzig—the latter asking for more than €70 million.
