Nowadays, living conditions are getting better and better. Many families like to keep pets. Among them, dogs are one of everyone’s favorite breeds. However, raising dogs is not so easy to raise. If the dog is injured, what should be done? Can dogs use iodine to disinfect their wounds? Let’s take a look.

Dogs can use iodine to disinfect their wounds, but pay attention to the injured parts, such as traumatic wounds such as the abdomen and toes, or common surgical wounds. However, it is not recommended to use iodine to disinfect easily irritated areas such as around the eyes, nose, and mouth. At the same time, if the dog's wound is deep or large, it is recommended to go to a pet hospital for treatment. Insufficient disinfection at home will aggravate the wound infection.

Use iodine to disinfect the dog's wound. The specific operation method is as follows:

1. First, the owner needs to carefully check whether there is any foreign matter in the dog's wound. If there is, use sterilized tweezers to pull out the foreign matter, and then rinse the stains and blood stains on the wound surface with saline. After rinsing, use a cotton swab dipped in iodine to gently wipe the wound to disinfect.

2. After cleaning and disinfecting the wound, you can apply some anti-inflammatory ointment on the wound, then apply sterile cloth on the wound, and then wrap the wound with tape, gauze, etc. to prevent the wound from coming into contact with dirt.  At the same time, wear an Elizabethan ring on the dog to prevent the dog from licking the wound and causing infection.

3. After treating the wound, the owner should pay attention to keeping the dog's wound dry, do not bathe the dog, and do not let the dog go to wet places. At the same time, it can also supplement the dog's nutrition and help the dog's wound heal faster.
