Atkins hit Adrian Daniel with his Mercedes car in Huddersfield in March 2022. The 33-year-old Daniel unfortunately died 10 days later. Atkins admitted the charge and was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court to 14 months in prison, with part to be served in other forms.
After Atkins pleaded guilty on March 4 last year, he continued to play for Mansfield until the end of last season. The striker's contract expired at the end of last season, but the club have confirmed he will return.
